Write my story….well, where do I start!
I received this lovely handmade journal from Katie who is the maker of all her journals at Gadanke, and of whom I met at Blissdom 2013. She’s very sweet and loves to help women capture their stories. The writing prompts she uses in her journals are very meaningful and gets you thinking. I chose She: Me, My Life, My Days personal journal to review because I need all the help I can get to tell my own personal story.
It’s small enough to carry in your purse (size 4×5.5″) and is perfect to jot down your feelings and those lines or phrases you don’t want to forget. Cost $17.75. I love this color (Brown Pine Bark) and is 100% recycled. This journal also comes in three other colors. Here is a code for 10% off that can be used on any product(s). STORYMOM – code good for only 5 days – so hurry if you’d like to use it.
About Katie & Gadanke: A couple of years ago, NPR’s StoryCorp was in town during my
grandma’s 90th birthday. The two of us decided to hop into the recording
studio to capture pieces of her story. I had all sorts of prompts to
help her. The only problem? My grandma couldn’t remember. Too much time
had passed. Later, my dad turned to me and said, “Katie, I need you to
write down your story.”
I started wondering about all of the other women who have stories deep inside of them that are going uncelebrated.
The name Gadanke (guh-dawn-kuh) comes from a German word that means
thought or idea. My German-born husband, Martin, and I were living in
Berlin, Germany when I created the first prompt journal, She: Me, My Life, My Days personal journal. Now I handcraft each book in a studio in the back of a vintage airplane hangar.
