love to support women who have that entrepreneurial spirit. Once a month
for 12 months, I will be presenting a “Shout Out” on one woman who runs
her own business and who has inspired me in some way.
Annette Bridges, Author of
“The Gospel According to Mamma” and
“The Queen of Damn Good Advice
I came across Annette’s books at the Fort Worth Women’s Expo this past May. Although, she wasn’t at her booth to talk about her new book, a very nice lady was there representing her WHILE she was giving a speech. So I got to listen to her speak a bit about life and her new book while visiting her adorable purple booth. Everything in her booth was purple…and that caught my eye. Then, when her friend was telling me about Annette’s writings, I was super exciting to get to know this author. I had left my information with her friend, in hopes she would contact me to do a review on her books.
Her first book called “The Gospel According to Mamma” – One mother’s philosophy on love, money, God, aging, decisions, change, and much more talks about, how to love the hell out of folks, how to be happy when there’s no reason to be, how to pull yourself up when life knocks you down, how to forgive yourself, how to let go of your mistakes, how to be yourself…and more! This sounds like a great read, doesn’t it?
I received just recently her second *new* book to do a book review. So I thought I’d tie my review in with my Women in Business Series. So Annette gets a double dose of stardom here in July!!
“The Queen of Damn Good Advice” – A savvy mom helps daughters command and rule their lives – In this book, you’ll not only read about her wealth of wisdom she gives to daughters that are headed off to college, but offers suggestions and advice on enhancing communication skills, provides time management tips, and even shares her secrets to having marital bliss and teaches you how to find a good man!
Because it’s time for me to post my women in business series for July, I have not yet had the chance to finish reading the book. But so far I can tell you that it’s fun, definitely inspirational, and offers damn good advice! Her stories are uplifting and honest, and are based on her own life’s lessons. Her inspirational stories had me thinking of my own life and where it’s
going. I love her practical insights, her real-life anecdotes and her
tips about life. There’s also a section in the back (6 pages worth) that is devoted to
“Featured Quotes” that are all Bible passages from the King James
Version (unless otherwise noted). It’s refreshing to read them. I am looking
forward to continuing my reading of this book.
“The Queen of Damn Good Advice” is for daughters, mothers, sisters…any woman looking for inspirational stories and humor advice on life, but her main reason in writing this book is to empower young women to rule their own life.
About the Author: Southern mom, Annette Bridges’ stories share helpful, instructive, light-hearted, inspirational messages. Born in Atlanta, GA, studied in Illinois and resides now on a cattle ranch in north Texas. Annette was an educator in public schools until becoming a home-schooling mom.
