HOW DO WE ENCOURAGE KIDS TO DOCUMENT THEIR STORIES?
When I was young, I dreamed of writing a fabulous journal that other kids would read in school one day. Did you dream of writing great stories, too?
A friend and I were both right-handed; we practiced writing with our
left hands at recess one month. That way if one of us fell off the
swings and had our “writing hand” in a cast, we could still write
stories. Oh my stories were going to be incredible!
Except for one thing: I didn’t know what to write.
I’d stare at my empty spiral notebook for hours, struggling to record something. Anything!
doesn’t matter if you’re a kid or an adult. Sometimes writing can be
hard! Writing about yourself in a blank book is especially intimidating.
is power. One of the greatest gifts parents and adults give our children
is the belief that anything is possible. We help them foster
creativity. We guide them in expressing themselves. We help them see how much their stories matter.
THE JOURNAL FOR KIDS
is the Gadanke journal for kids. It’s a fabulous little time capsule
where kids tell stories, make up treasure maps, and document their
greatest dreams through the help of writing prompts.
Have the kids you care about started using “Jump Up” to record their incredible stories?
