SoFabCon is a Blogging Convention put on by Social Fabric/Collective Bias that will soon bring 100’s of bloggers all around the world together in Bentonville, Arkansas to learn, inspire& grow!
When I signed up to participate in this challenge of feeling better before SoFabCon14 my idea was to talk about my “word” for 2014 and to blog about my journey with it. My word is “Mindful” – I shall do all things mindfully. I love my new word and am sticking to it…However, something else has come up that I need to work on in order to feel better at SoFabCon.
If you’ve been keeping up with me, you know I’m going through menopause and not liking it at all. My body has done some major changes and I’m freaking out about it. I’ve gone up a size and can’t wear a darn thing in my closet…AND my boobs have met my rib cage, and not to mention – I eat everything in sight! Well, I’ve gone to the doctor and found out a few things. One is, my thyroid is low and the other is the hormone thing – so I’m taking meds for both – BUT on top of all that, my lower back hurts constantly.
Back in 2002 I hurt my back by overworking it one weekend when I was fixing up a store I had. For three days straight I cleaned, painted, wall papered, moved things around – you name it I did it in order to get my store looking good for customers. Time passed and my back would bother me every now and then…then this past summer, I fell trying to take a picture of Brody at his swimming lessons. I tripped over a bar underneath the lifeguard stand and down I went on my right butt cheek. Every since them, my back has hurt worse that not even 3 Advil would rid the pain. So I decided to talk to my doctor about it and he sent me to get an x-ray.
|Me this past Nov. 2013|
X-ray shows that my spine is curved more than it should be and that my septum is pointed upwards too much…making everything not work properly. It’s nothing bad and can be fixed I’m told, but I do have to do something about it or it will get worse. I’m going to a PT now and she has giving me homework….exercise homework that is.
My homework for this week is to do knee to chest morning and night. AND when I can think about it I have to hold in my core muscles (stomach) and breath at the same time…..that’s not easy!
I have to work on this and get it fixed b/c I get tired real fast and it’s hard to keep up with Brody. Another thing, I have to get up and walk around and I must limit myself on the computer too. So with all that said, I’ll be tracking my progress and will talk about it once a month until SoFabCon in May.
Can’t wait to read about others and their wellness journey and progress. Hey Mommie…Again readers, there’s other stories like mine if you would like to read them. See links below.
A good way for a child of God to celebrate the New Year is to let go of anything that has gone stale or rotten. Then we’ll be free to live each day expecting new, fresh things from the One Who promises, “I am making everything new!” (Revelation 21:5)
