I was not given any compensation for writing this post. These words are my own and on my own accord.
With all the hustle and bustle of getting kids where they need to go such as sporting events or dance class, how often do you get the chance to get away with your girl friends on a Saturday for an all-day shopping spree? For me, that’s not too often now that we are Mommie and Daddy to Brody – our youngest grandson. HOWEVER, I do make a point to attend the Funky Finds Extravaganza in Fort Worth, TX twice a year. Funky Finds Shopping is a perfect place for us to go to find cool things we’ve never seen before. The show is full of artists of all kinds. Everything there is handmade or at least 90% of it is. I usually end up spending more than $100 at each show I attend, and coming home with some “funky” stuff!
Funky Finds is now on their 6th year and I believe my husband and I first went when it was their 2nd annual show. I’ve been going every since and haven’t missed a show. Actually, I think I missed once…but hey, who’s counting. The friendships here are the most important. These two girls Sheri (middle) and Dee (right) are not just my friends, they are my BEST FRIENDS from way way back – since we were young teenagers. Sheri has gone with me plenty of times, but this is Dee’s first time to go, and I think I’ve got her hooked.
There’s a couple more friends that go with us every now and then, Joby and Jana – we sure miss when they don’t get to come. The invitation is always opened for friends to join us. It’s such a wonderful day spent as there’s much more to do that day besides hanging out at Funky Finds. We also go right next door to the Cattle Barns (where the Fort Worth Stock Show is held annually) to see what we can find at the flea market. This year, however, Sheri and I also got to go to the Just Between Friends (JBF) Sale, which was across the parking lot in the Will Rogers Auditorium. I usually go to the JBF of Denton to find used clothes and toys for Brody, BUT this year I was approached by JBF of Fort Worth to do a blog shout out of their sale, and in return I would get a $20 credit to their sale. So, I got to go to all the sales in one day….AND we also went to lunch at the Flying Fish. Dee took us there – she said it was good…and it sure was!
Thanks JBF – I was able to score a couple of play shirts for Brody, a Power Ranger Costume, and I scored a brand new toy called Planes Dusty Crophopper for only $12 – original price was $20. I normally buy way more at these type sales, but believe it or not, Brody doesn’t need a thing right now!
Here’s a few other photos from past Funky Finds days.
