The innocents of a child. I shall do all I can to keep him innocent. Oh Lord, be with me and help me raise this boy with all my might and Yours.
Brody now 4 years old is growing up so fast. He is my life and my son Johnny lives through him. There’s not a day goes by that I don’t think of my son up in heaven and how I’m going to tell Brody all about him. Some think, perhaps we should have begun telling Brody about about his life from the start, but we didn’t. My husband and I will one day sit Brody down and tell him everything that we think he needs to know “at that time” and nothing else. Today, he knows us only as Mommy and Daddy.
Anyways, I wasn’t going to go there – I want to express my feelings about Brody here and to tell all grandparents that are raising their grand children or soon will be that it’s the best feeling in this whole wide world. The best is yet to come. We get to watch this child become a caring young man and grow into this world with his abilities to make his future whatever he wants it to be. That’s amazing right there!!
So many memories so far we’ve endured with this little one already. Brody came to use weighing not even 5 lbs. I took the first year of his life and practically catered to him the whole time. I personally don’t suggest doing that, but hey, as my husband would say, “it is what it is” and that’s the way it was with us. I heard every breath he took and I was there at every whimper he made. Rocking a baby never felt so good.
Awe…if the little toot only knew. Yep, Brody’s a toot. But his our toot and the best toot there is!
Sports are upon us now and Tracy and I are lucky in that we get to be those proud parents sitting in the bleachers watching our little one having the time of his life. Actually, not yet…not in T-Ball. They informed us that this sport is “your” sport too. You’ll be playing too! Okay with us!
We’ve got way more plans for Brody Elliot. I know I know, he’s not even in school yet and we are planning is college career. Oh, Lord, help me to slow down this grandma’s process. But please hurry before menopause takes over my body!!!
Awe…the joys of raising Brody. This grandmother’s journey continues on.
Here’s a little shout out to April Perry and Saren Loosi, the women behind Motherhood Realized – an inspiring book about a “gathering place for deliberate mothers.” It features some of the best and most moving stories from PowerofMoms. The stories remind mothers that are unique, wonderful, and exactly what their children need, despite the seemingly-never-ending obstacles that come with parenting.
