Every Santa needs cookies under the tree, right? Brody was so excited to make these cookies after he saw all the ingredients on the kitchen counter, so we went a head and made them. We gave one each to his brothers and sister and I’ll just freeze the rest for the big man in red!!
I have to confess, preparing the dough and using the cookie cutters was the easiest and fun part. I didn’t really enjoy decorating the cookies – it was too messy…but Brody did and that’s all that matters. I used a food coloring brand called Color Garden that uses 100% plant based ingredients. I got them free at the ShiftCon Blogger’s Conference that I attended back in October of this year. I love the fact that this company doesn’t include preservatives or artificial ingredients in their food colors, but I just wasn’t impressed with how the colors turned out. I might have used too much. It’s worth checking out though, especially if you like to bake with all natural ingredients.
This dough recipe is actually a gluten-free recipe that I found in a GF magazine. They turned out really yummy. It called for lemon zest and lemon juice, so it had a nice lemony flavor.
This made me think of the believing in Santa Claus thing. I do hope Brody believes as long as possible and that no one spoils it for him. This is a tradition that has been in my family since the beginning, and my hopes are that children all over the world have the same childlike feelings as Brody does.
What about you, do your little ones still believe in Santa Claus?
Happy Boy right there!!!
