If you live in the Dallas/Fort Worth area or just visiting, here’s a few activities you’ll want to put on your summer activity list if you haven’t already!!
Brody’s summer is off to a good start!! We’ve been very busy or should I say “crazy busy” like everyone else says!!! Our (or his) summer activities has us mostly outdoors with the exception of a few. It’s nice to have indoor things to do when it’s blistering hot outside. The Texas heat right now is in the upper 90’s…almost to 100 everyday. Yikes!!!
After swimming lessons one day we went next door to the Roanoke Library. I overhead a mom say that there was a petting zoo over there. So we walked over and joined in. It was a local business that set up a small outdoor petting zoo for free. They had these cute rabbits along with a couple of pigs, goats, ducks, geese and a few other adorable pets.
It’s not a summer without the kids swimming in the lake at my parent’s house at Cedar Creek Lake. The lake is located southeast of Dallas. Our lake house has been in the family since 1972. My parent retired there.
SEA LIFE Aquarium Grapevine has a new Rainforest Adventure. We were invited by PR to attend a private soft opening for the Rainforest Adventure before it was opened to the public. It’s way cool. I posted a press release on it if you would like to read it. SEA LIFE Grapevine to Open New Rainforest Adventure
This week we have Gavin, Brody’s brother visiting us for a few days. I had activities lined up for them. First, we went to Hawaiian Falls in Roanoke. Oh my, what fun. I couldn’t even get them to stand still long enough to take a few photos. These 4 pics are all I got. They really liked the lazy river (my favorite too) and the roaring waves in the pool. We will be going back before summer’s end. I was lucky enough to have been invited to a blogger event at the Hawaiian Falls in White Settlement where us moms got to zip line and climb the ropes. Not all parks have these. See it here Hawaiian Falls White Settlement TX Blogger Luncheon & Event – it a must see!!!
Have you been to a Chuck E. Cheese’s (CEC) lately? If not, next time you go you’ll notice a few changes. They’ve updated their menus!!! Yes, several new pizzas were added as well as sandwiches, whole-wheat wraps and out-of-this-world cinnamon sticks. As Chef Gregory Casale was explaining to us – CEC wants to appease adults more so than ever and they hope to do that by adding signature pizzas and a healthier menu. My favorite pizza now is the Cali Alfredo specialty pizza made with fresh ingredients such as spinach and mushrooms. Did you know…all Chuck E. Cheese’s foods are made with fresh ingredients? That’s good to know!!! Also, no more tokens. CEC has replaced tokens with cards. All the kids have to do is scan the card…and the cards are reloadable. Get all the news plus the updated menu at http://chuckecheese.com/newmenu.
On Gavin’s last day with us they had fun at the Adventure Day Camp located in Grapevine. Since the Grapevine Lake where their normal spot is is still under water they moved their location next to the Elk’s Lodge. They had a blast. Gavin spent most of his time in the pool and Brody said he liked playing in the sand box. They both also got to shot BB guns which Gavin couldn’t get enough of that either!!!
So that’s what we’ve been doing thus far this summer…and there’s more fun to come!!!
What fun activities have you and your kids been doing this summer?
