My favorite season is here…and that is FALL. I love getting out all my fall decor and placing it all around my house. Here are 5 simple ways I decorate for fall.
I always toss between Fall and Spring being my favorite season. It seems when either one is near, then that’s my favorite. Ugh. I can’t make up my mind! However, I absolutely LOVE the colors of Fall and brisk days ahead…so since it’s September – Fall is my favorite season of all. HA!
5 Simple Ways I Decorate for Fall
Setting the scene for the fall season calls for warm colors and pumpkins! I try to add fall decor to every space I can find. I mostly reuse what I already have, but here lately I have been buying new fall decor.
To get the look above, I used a clear glass vase, real beans (layered) I had in the cupboard, a candle, a leaf placemat I picked up last year for .99 cents at Kohl’s, and a fall wreath that I’ve had for years. I added a few other things around my centerpiece that I had from last year, the pears inside the box I bought at one of my favorite stores just this week, and a teapot Brody made me last year for Mother’s Day. It has the perfect fall colors in it.
SIDE TABLE DECOR
Below is my side table between where I sit and where my husband sits. I always like to decorate here for every season. I pull out my Sept/Oct magazines (old and/or new) and simply group them together with something fall-ish on top. Gourds make great decor for fall and can be used until the end of November. I placed a photo book of our family pictures from last year here b/c it has pumpkins on the front – I planned that just right, didn’t I? I also got out a pincushion that my niece gave me for Christmas one year, and my favorite (which I’ve had for years) is an old pot with rose hips, short cinnamon sticks, and mini ornamental pumpkins that surrounds a candle. Sometimes I drop cinnamon oil on it to bring out a fresh fall smell.
MISC FALL DECOR ON OLD BLACK CHEST
This is an old chest I found at an antique store a couple of years back. I’ve used it for a coffee table in the past, but today it’s against a wall showing off some fall decor and a few older pics of us. I picked up those cute matching pumpkins at a store in Vernon, TX last year when we were heading to New Mexico. I’ve not seen these exact ones anywhere else, but I have seen other colors.
This was fun to make, although it was more money than I really wanted to spend. I started out thinking it wouldn’t cost much, but as I wrapped the garlands around the wire, I realized I would need more. Here’s what I used. A tomato wire cage – I literally pulled it out of the ground in my garden, washed it off a bit and boom! 9.5′ Work garland I found at Hobby Lobby – their fall stuff is on sale (or was). I ended up using about 8 or 9 garlands. I used one string of lights (21 ft) and tucked it all inside. For the top, I used 3 fall stems that I already had. I plan to put this outside on my front porch. I think it will look better there.
>>>>INSERT>>>> – A must see. I turned this fall tree into a Halloween tree – so much cuter!!! See it here – My DIY Sparkly Halloween Tree
This was from 2 years ago and I just love them. These are not your normal type pumpkins. I believe the top one is called Cinderella Pumpkin. The other two also have specific names that I do not recall right now. I got them at Central Market and they were quite pricey. They are perfect in my front flowerbed so I think I’ll decorate with them again if I can find them this year. Too early right now to buy pumpkins here in Texas as they would not last until Thanksgiving b/c of the heat.
Enjoy this gorgeous weather we are about to have here in Texas…or perhaps you’re already enjoying brisk days and falling leaves. I’d love to hear about how you decorate for fall, and what you like most about fall, or Autumn as some call it.
