Do you live with a hunter like I do? My son now wants to be just like his daddy, and for this, I decorated his bedroom accordingly. A hunter’s Dream – my 6-year old’s bedroom makeover is definitely a hunter’s dream.
So, my son has decided he wants to be a hunter and a Veterinarian when he grows up. Oh, I pray he picks the latter!!
A Hunter’s Dream – My 6-year old’s Bedroom Makeover
Actually, this bedroom as been everything from a girly bedroom, to a craft room, and then a guest room. You see, we had just remodeled the bedroom into a guest room with a new wood floor, fresh light blue paint, a nice queen size bed with matching dresser and mirror that was handed down to us from my husband’s grandmother. I had put nice decor on the walls and pretty things all around for when guests came to stay. That was in early October of 2009.
January 6th came and that’s when we got Brody. He was only 5 weeks old when he came to live with us, so he stayed in our room for the first 6 months, then he moved to a baby bed in the guest room.
The news came in September 2010 that my husband and I would be Brody’s permanent parents. So this is when I started thinking about turning the guest room into HIS room. However, seeing that he was still in a baby bed and we still had guests come to visit, I kept it the same.
It wasn’t until the little stinker started crawling out of his baby bed when I decided he needed to be in a bed….and this is when we changed the guest room into HIS room.
At this time, I had been given the opportunity to review bedding in exchange for a blog post. So with that, I picked out the cutest animal theme with greens and browns colors. We kept the queen bed and was able to get the sheets, comforter, and shams. I had bought the dust ruffle then. A year later the same company came back and asked if I would like to do an update on his bedroom in the same theme. This time I was able to get decorative pillows and a rug. There were animals everywhere – on his walls and on the dresser and floor!! It was really cute for a 3-yr old’s room.
Well, that was then and now it’s time to do it all over again!!
Brody is growing and with that, so does his room. Now I’m off to look online for a navy and white comforter to match his newly painted navy and white walls. I always choose to shop on my favorite website Wayfair first. Then I compare prices. I’ll google the name of the product I liked on Wayfair to find it elsewhere…9 times out of 10 I go back to Wayfair where the price is less and is free to ship. LOVE THAT!!
Here’s Brody’s BEFORE bedroom.
I’m almost too embarrassed to post it…but this is reality and so I must!!
I’m so happy with the outcome of the AFTER bedroom makeover.
Brody was so thrilled to have a space to read. Being in Kindergarten sure has given him a better appreciation for books and for reading.
My husband had the idea of painting wood shelves instead of buying them stained. They turned out okay, as long as you don’t get too close. I think I would have rather bought stained ones, but these do match the blue wall.
I’m thinking his room will stay this way until at least through grade school. We shall see.
