While in the kitchen yesterday morning I was debating on having either my same ole same ole for breakfast or something different or new. We had just gone to Costco the night before and picked some really juicy **already cut-up** mangoes. I’m not sure how to cut a mango so I buy it already cut up – so easy and convenient. I love smoothies so I made up this healthy and delicious Coconut – Mango Smoothie. Hope you like it.
So of course I used what I had in my kitchen to make my smoothie…and I almost could have called it an “Organic” Healthy Smoothie, but not every ingredient is organic. To make it healthy I suggest using what I did, but if you don’t have or won’t buy, consider using something similar.
You’ve heard of chia seeds and hemp seeds, and how they are good for you, right? Here’s why:
Both are Vegan, Non-GMO, Gluten-free and can be added to oatmeal, yogurt, juices, salads, and of course great for smoothies. I found both at Central Market or any healthy food store, and both are organic. Nutiva has other awesome healthy products such as coconut oil that I buy. This is my first time to buy Kashmir Hemp Seeds. These seeds are not cheap, but well worth the buy!
Chia Seeds – *Superfood* – contains omega 3s, protein, antioxidants and fiber. has no taste.
Hemp Seeds – *Superfood* – contains magnesium, omega fatty acids, protein and is highly absorbable. One of the best proteins for vegetarians. Has a nutty flavor.
Coconut – Mango Healthy Smoothie
- 2 TBLS Organic Coconut Milk (use the cream) – found at health food store
- 1 cup fresh water
- 1 heaping TBLS Nutiva Chia Seeds
- 1 TBLS of Hemp Seeds
- 1 TSP Brown Rice Syrup or honey
- 2 Shakes of Cinnamon
- 3/4 Cup of Mangoes – cut into pieces
- Sprinkle of coconut flakes (optional)
- Chopper such as a Bullet or something similar
Place all ingredients in your chopper/mixer and turn on for about 15-30 seconds. I shake mine, then mix up again. This recipe will make the smoothie thick, so if you want a more liquid smoothie add more fresh water. Enjoy!!
