Another fun time in Fort Worth for Brody and me. This time after having lunch with a dear friend at a hole-in-the-wall restaurant off Main Street, I decided to take Brody to see the Longhorns at the Stockyards….and look what else we found to do!! Here are fun things to do at the Fort Worth Stockyards, FTW, TX.
Don’t miss this – we didn’t pay to see it all, but you can walk in and view some of the old carriages and other nostalgic items. This place is on a side street, but the sign will not be hard to miss. They offer those old-time photos where you dress up in old clothes worn back in the day. Also, down the same side street, there’s a place to ride horses. Again, if I didn’t wander down that way, I would have never known these two places were there. Sorry, I don’t know the name of the street…or for that matter if it’s even a street. Google it before you head out!!
This photo is on the wall as you walk into the Stockyard Information Center. Though there wasn’t a huge crowd there today, there were a few groups from other countries taking tours.
Fort Worth is definitely a place you want to put on your bucket list so you can see how the west was won!!! Be sure to pick up a cowboy hat and take a picture by the steers!! They make great photos to send to friends and family!!
When the Longhorns aren’t out and about, they are located down a small street in a pasture. You can walk up and see them. Brody didn’t want to spot each one on the chart, but hey, he’s only 4….he spotted a petting zoo instead that he’d rather go to. So off we go to pet the animals…(petting zoo was closed) oops!
So many things to do in this small area of Fort Worth – from restaurants to bars, to gift shops to action-packed fun. You could literally stay the whole day in this one spot. A lot is happening just on E. Exchange Street and across Main Street. Local shops are up and down the road and on side streets too. Your entire family will have a blast. It can get a little hectic late at night though.
Historic tours and carriage rides are available throughout the day. Brody would not get on that carriage ride. It’s a 12 to 13-minute ride around E. Exchange Street and Main Street and the side streets. I so wanted to do that! KIDS!!!
