We teach our son the importance of eating a well-balanced diet and exercising daily is good for his all over health. But, what also comes with that is how he feels about himself and how he treats others in his path. My husband and I do our very best to instill in Brody that doing nice things for others is also part of living a healthy lifestyle. What I mean by that is we teach him that doing good for others in our community will make him a better person inside and out, which in turn, will make him feel good about himself.
With a new year in full swing makes it the perfect time to instill healthy changes in all aspects of life. Whether it’s eating healthier, exercising more, building a better community, or encouraging more self-confidence in our children, it all starts with us. Smart eating habits, active lifestyles, and self-confidence is what our youngsters need in order to be the best that they can be. Unfortunately, many kids today are not getting the guidance that they need to learn the basics of healthy lifestyles and the importance of developing a positive self-image. This is why programs like Triple Play are very effective.
Health and Wellness of Our Kids Today
Triple Play is Boys & Girls Clubs of America’s leading comprehensive health and wellness program that serves young people at Boys & Girls Clubs. Triple Play is focused on introducing healthy lifestyle changes to youngsters. National support from the Amerigroup and Coca-Cola make it possible for Boys & Girls Clubs around the country to operate Triple Play.
The “I FEEL BETTER WHEN” mantra is the key focus for BGCA at the start of this year. How wonderful is that? I’m so glad this organization is giving the tools needed to instill health and wellness in today’s kids. There’s no better feeling than living your life in healthy ways!
As we continue to improve our own health and wellness practices in 2017, let’s not forget our children need it too. Consider including your family’s own “I feel better when” submission! We will be doing the same with our family.
One way we are continuing our path of health and wellness in our family is signing our son up for the 21-Day Healthy Snack Challenge at his elementary school. He’s got 21 days to prove he can eat healthy snacks when he gets home from school. We have a book that was sent home with him to keep track. Another way I have found is so simple, I give Brody 5 almonds each morning along with his vitamins. It’s his job to help me remember!!!!
