Ingredients
Instructions
  1. For the Crust: 1. Line a 9″ x 13′ baking dish with foil or parchment paper, making sure enough hangs over to make it easy for lifting out squares from pan. 2. In a medium bowl, combine flour, sugar, salt, and melted butter; stir until dough forms. 3. Press and pat dough into prepared baking dish, then place in freezer for 10 mins. Preheat oven to 325 degrees. 4. Take crust from freezer and place in oven; bake for 18-20 mins, until the edges begin to run light golden brown. Remove from oven.
  2. For the Filling: 1. In med. skillet on medium heat, cook apples in 1 tbs butter and sprinkle cinnamon over mixture, stirring occassionally. Cook for about 6-8 minutes or until apples have softened. 2. Spread apples and pecans evenly over crust. Set aside. 3. Melt remaining 4 tbs butter and add to a medium bowl. Add in eggs, light brown sugar, 100 % pure maple syrup, and vanilla; whisk together. 4. Pour evenly over apples and pecans. 5. Bake for 40-45 minutes, making sure filling sets well.
  3. Let cool for 2 hours before cutting into squares, being sure to remove from baking dish before cutting.
