Do you save coins for something worthwhile each year? We do. Saving coins is a tradition in our house for our yearly vacations. This year, we decided to make it a family activity with Brody by rolling our own coins. Not only do we save money by rolling ourselves, it’s also an opportunity to teach Brody about money. At this point, everything is a penny to him, but in the long run, he’ll remember this evening when we are on vacation at Yellowstone National Park later this month, and bring up that this is what we saved our money for and why we rolled the coins.
|BRODY WAS SO PROUD OF HIS PENNY ROLL!!|
Our bank gives us paper wrappers to roll with for free and when we take them to the bank for deposit, it doesn’t cost us a thing. I know, the easier way is to dump them all in a machine and let the machine count them, but we were tired of giving our hard earn money away to that machine.
We can save up to $600 in coins each year if we really try hard.
Emptying my coin purse is something I do at least every week straight into a
bottle jar that we have on the kitchen counter, then when that gets full it gets dumped into a larger glass
We are so excited to be going to Yellowstone National Park this year as our family vacation. We will fly into Bozeman Montana and stay in a cabin somewhere not too far from the airport. I’m letting my husband plan this trip, so I’m crossing my fingers that this place and the jeep we are getting is decent!! Then, the next day we will drive up to the Park and enjoy the wide open spaces. We are all about nature. My husband (and me) prefer the mountains over the beach. I do have to say though, I am going to Coronado Beach tomorrow with a girlfriend and staying for 4 days. I’m really excited about this trip too!! Vacationing is right up there with eating to me!!!
