Emily Robinson and Martie Maguire sing their heart out in their new album ~~ Amelita
I participated in this campaign for One2One Network. I received a free copy of the CD to facilitate my review. By posting, I am eligible for incentives. All opinions stated are my own.
You may know Emily Robison and Martie Maguire as two-thirds of Dixie Chicks. Well, after a few years away from the limelight, these real-life sisters have found harmony by collaborating as Court Yard Hounds. They have released a new album, Amelita. It’s a little bit country, a little bit rock ‘n’ roll, with plenty of Dixieland delight.
A Dixie Chicks fan here! I saw them perform in Dallas years ago when no one knew who they were. I think they were performing at a 5k Run/Walk and probably for free. Right before I received an email asking if I’d like to fill out a form to see if I qualified to review their CD, I had listened to “Wide Opened Spaces” – I love singing along with them on that album and I keep this album close by when I want to “sing out loud”. I can’t go without saying that I miss Natalie. The two sisters will continue to do great out on their own, I believe that!
Emily and Martie have so much passion as musicians and shows every bit of it in this new album. The tone of the album is easy on the ear and delightful stories about their past and present. f I were to draw a picture of their music, it would be in a meadow out in the country with some type of folk art object in it. One of my all time favorite thing I’ve always liked about these girls is watching and listening to them play their instruments. Boy, can they get down.
few years away from the limelight and the Dixie Chicks, the two sisters
were ready to get back into the studio with the creation of Court Yard
Hounds. Amelita, out now, marks the Court Yard Hounds’ second album.
I’ll always be
indebted to their music and their sound. After all, I was in my twenties
when I first heard of them and you know your mind races when you’re
that young. And not to mention, they are Dallas chicks, and country and
rock n roll all mixed up….just like me! What more can you ask for!!!
