It’S TiMe tO dEcorATE foR FaLL. I love this time of year! When thinking about how I want to decorate, I first use decor I already have, then if I want to I’ll buy something new. I just move things around which brings a whole new like/life to a piece. Decorating for fall doesn’t have to be expensive each year, just re-purpose, re-use to re-decorate…and you’ll have yourself a new look for less for fall.
Decorating my home is a fun past time hobby of mine, especially around the holidays. This is one aspect of my life I know I got from my mom. She still continues to rearrange and re-purpose her decor…that is if she’s not giving away pieces to me or my sister.
I originally bought this chalkboard desk that I found at a flea market for Brody to use, but after a while we got him a wooden desk with chairs and put this desk up in the loft for him to use when we go up there to work on crafts. When I started decorating for fall I thought to use this desk as an end table in the den beside the couch. Like it?
Gourds are in, and so are wire baskets. If you’ve been to Pottery Barn lately, you’ve seen a wide selection of wire baskets of all sizes. I captured these basket somewhere else, but love the ideas and inspiration I get from the Pottery Barn. Gourds are the perfect decor for fall. They add that outdoor touch that every room needs.
Birds of any size bring such a feel of nature into a home. I love birds, especially the fat blue ones!!
And of course you’ve got to have magazines displaying the appropriate holiday. Although I didn’t do it here, I save all my holiday magazines from years’ past and lay them out during each holiday. I may have a fall Country Living Magazine from 1993 and perhaps a Country Life from last year, and a new Flea Market Finds stacked up together.
So, when deciding how to decorate for fall, first use what you have to re-purpose, re-use to re-decorate for fall…then go buy you that piece that you’ve had your eye on!! Have fun!
