Where do I start? I’ll start by saying….I’m going green and am starting my journey immediately! I’m already on the right track with eating healthy and getting rid of chemical-added cleaners within my home and garage. But after attending this Eco-Wellness Blog Conference put on by Leah S. at ShiftCon, I’ve gained more confidence to take the next steps. My info here is for the “intro”, “first-timers to go green”, etc. There was much info shared and some way over my head. Lots of activist and extremist shared their stories. Much was very touching.
ShiftCon was where shift happens (aka #ShiftHappens) alright…and am taking it all to heart. Brands were more than generous with their knowledge and their products. There was so much swag giving out, it was unreal. I will most definitely be spending my dollars with these companies first.
I met great influential people, such as Stacy Lyon from healthy hoo hoo – a brand owned by her that is “gentle care for down there”. She was a hoot! AND including my roommate from Canada, Joyce – she blogs at http://theskinnypear.com.
So excited to be the winner of a 3-months supply of snacks from WAY BETTER SNACKS – they were so generous with their snacks – there wasn’t a time where I didn’t have a chip in my possession to snack on if needed. We already eat them in our home, so this is just an added benefit!! So look for these products at your grocery and you’ll find that they are Certified GF, NONGMO Verified, 100% Whole Grains, Made in the USA. Thanks WAY BETTER SNACKS!!!
If you’re wanting to go all green and can’t fathom going all organic just yet, may I suggest started out by buying only products with the label that says NONGMO Verified. There’s way too many preservatives in our foods, so watch buying can goods and packaged foods. Look for this sign on all packaging.
Baby steps is all it takes to start a greener life. It’s worth it to you and to your children. Did you know that GMO’s came into place in 1996? That means I, nor most of you did not grow up eating foods that were genetically modified, BUT our kids did and are now. Why this sort of activity is approved by the FDA, I do not know or understand. GMO – Genetically Modified Organism. Educate yourself on this topic…you’ll be alarmed…just like the photo above says.
So, please follow along with me as I journey into greener pastures of eating organic, growing a garden for the first time, making my own all natural cleaning products (I’ve already started this), ridding my cabinets of all GMO foods, and learning more on how to save our environment of unwanted materials, such as plastics.
Be sure to watch for next year’s ShiftCon Conference! In the meantime, follow #ShiftCon and #ShiftHappens for exciting news on this conference and next years’. Keep an eye out on my next “green” post for the “first-timers”.
