I’ve been waiting all winter to get my backyard looking pretty. Since living in this house almost 15 years now, I’ve always spent most of my time and money sprucing up the front yard because our house sits on a corner lot and gets viewed on two sides. I guess you can say, I like to show off my yard to my nieghbors and passerbyers. Of course, I’ll still plant flowers in the flower beds and make it look nice, but this year, my efforts will be in my backyard.
Did I mention we have a huge backyard? Yep, we do, and I have the perfect setup for a fabulous garden, a sitting area, and of course our son’s play yard, and soon I’ll have my very own “She Shed”, but that part comes later. Today, I’m showing you my before and after photos of my sitting area.
My Outdoor Spring Furniture Update
And oh boy, it needed it!!
It started with a flower pot and these colors (green, blue & red). My husband and I went to Lowe’s and although I had different colors in mind, as soon as I saw these three colors together, I changed my mind. Plus, my husband is not really into soft subtle colors like I am. By the way, Valspar, nor Lowe’s endorsed or sponsored this post. It’s all my doings!!
I started with this table and two chairs I’ve had forever. I had them in the front yard and on the side of the house all this time. So in the backyard it goes right under a tree that will provide lots of shade for those hot summer days coming up.
The green color wasn’t my favorite, but when I saw the colors all together on the spray can, I thought it would be really nice and then I could give it a pop of red by spray painting a flower pot or two. And…the fact that these colors are on the spray cans, I didn’t think I could go wrong. It took 3 cans of paint for cover the table and chairs. Spent $15.
Oh, what a can a paint can do. To spray paint the plant stand, the pot, and the stand took one can of blue paint. I believe I have a little left.
The flower in the blue pot above is Spanish Lavender. It’s scent is much like the classic smell of lavender, but I think the flowering is much prettier. This plant will get to 3 feet tall and 3 fee wide, so it will be planted in my garden soon. It needs sun all day, so I hope I can provide that for it. I picked this plant up at Sprouts.
All my updates are versatile and not heavy at all, so I can move all pieces literally any where I wish.
And it all comes together here…under this tree.
Now, I can sit there and see my garden from afar, but most importantly, I can watch my son play on his play set while sipping on my favorite beverage!!
Sometime next month I’ll have a “She Shed” built next to the garden. I’m really excited about that. All materials will be vintage. More to come.
Do you have plans to update your backyard or front yard? I’d love to hear about it.
