5 Easy Ways to Start Healthy Habits in the Kitchen
There are plenty of things we can do now to start healthy habits, but these 5 are the top habits that I suggest to anyone looking to get healthy.
Wash Your Hands
As simple as it is, many of us forget. Washing our hands before handling food is so important because it’s easy to spread bacteria around the kitchen and onto food. It’s important to always wash your hands thoroughly with soap and warm water before starting to prepare food.
Make Water Your Drink of Choice
Better yet, make that filtered water. Begin your day with a full glass of water filtered through a Brita® Filter Pitcher found at Dollar General. Filtering your water is a must, especially if you live in a town that has bad water to start with. By filtering tap water, you get rid of chemicals, copper, mercury, along with other contaminants you wouldn’t want to put into your body. Best of all, it’s affordable. Healthy Fruit Smoothie Recipe
Here’s a simple Fruit Smoothie For One to enjoy for breakfast or any time of the day.
- 1/2 cup milk (any)
- 1/2 cup filtered water
- a handful of frozen fruit of your choice
- honey (optional)
Cut up fruit if needed and freeze it all in a Glad® bag. The next day, enjoy a fruit smoothie by adding all ingredients in a blender and blend until smooth. That’s it.
Below is a perfect drink to consume any time of day. Here’s how to make flavored water: Pour some filtered water into a pitcher and carefully drop about a cup of fruit into the pitcher of filtered water. Place pitcher in the refrigerator for a couple of hours (overnight is best) and enjoy flavored water all day long. Tip: after water is consumed, use the fruit for something else, like in hot cereal.
