If you’ve followed my blog in the last year or so, it’s a good chance you’ve seen this picture before. He loved that red hat. He just had to wear it when we got our family pictures taken back in 2013 in the backyard of his and my mom’s house on the lake.
We had to say goodbye to my dad this past Thursday. His heart just couldn’t hang on any longer. He went to be with the Lord in the early morning on 9/21. My mom was there with him. Hospice came to get him ready. I don’t know how my mom did it. My mom is a strong lady – I guess I got that from her.
My dad was known to many as Pepa. Actually, we all called him that! My dad had 4 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. Our lake house won’t be the same without him.
Here’s my sweet mom receiving the American Flag from my Uncle Roger (my dad’s brother). My dad served in the US Navy.
I took my mom shopping after this sweet graveside service. It did us both some good.
God Bless my dad. Say hi to Johnny for me dad.
