Last summer we took a vacation to Chama, New Mexico. A well-spent time for all of us. There’s nothing better than hanging out down by the river’s edge with this kid. All outdoors at Fishtail Ranch – Chama, New Mexico.
Vacations never seem to come often enough around here. I need to change that!
All Outdoors at Fishtail Ranch – Chama, New Mexico
If you’ve ever been to Northern New Mexico, you know what I’m talking about here. The mountains, the scenery, the weather – it’s understandable gorgeous. Especially if you’re from a state that doesn’t come close to that beauty. Don’t get me wrong here, I’m a native Texan and I love my state, but there’s something to be said about the mountains.
My family had the privilege of staying at the Fishtail Ranch a couple of months ago when the owners invited us up to visit. It’s such a fantastic place, and our son even got to take horseback riding lessons. What a great vacation we had.
Fishtail Ranch is a hunting ranch when the Elk are out, and in the summer months, they offer guided horseback riding through the beautiful trails. After Brody’s riding lessons we all hoped on a horse and went for a ride. It was breathtaking.
I hadn’t been on a horse in years, and though I was a little hesitant, it turned out to be an enjoyable experience. Heck, I even did FB Live while I was riding.
Take a look at this view. Tracy and I already want to find a summer home here, but it has to be close to the river.
Years ago the owners (Valeria & Jim) vacationed in Chama during Elk season, and about two years after that they decided to pack up and move there from Irving, Texas. Now they own a full blown hunting ranch.
We can’t wait to go back. Brody wants to fish and ride horses again. Be sure to check out Fishtail Ranch when you can.
