This is an inspirational story about my best friend and our friendship memories at First Earth Farm. Last month my son and I spent the weekend at my best friend’s farm near Stephenville, TX.
When you’ve been best friends for more than 50 years and haven’t seen each other in a couple of months, there’s much to talk about. There wasn’t a minute that went by that one of us wasn’t talking. I love that! Dee and I have kept in touch all these years. I promise when two months – maybe three goes by one of us phones the other. And when that phone rings or that text dings, either one will say…”I was just thinking about you”. I cherish her, and I will forever love our friendship.
Friendship Memories at First Earth Farm
When Brody and I arrived at her farm, I immediately knew why she moved there. It’s got gardens all around, a chicken coop or two for her chickens, an old house, another house, a barn, and a few more buildings that she will one day turn into something spectacular I’m sure. See, Dee is my adventure friend. She has this craft that no other friend of mine has. She can take an old run down barn and make something beautiful out of it. That’s precisely what’s she’s going to do with First Earth Farm.
I feel lucky to have a friendship as we have. We’ve been through a lot together…and the best thing about us two is we have never been in an argument. Well, I’m not counting last year when four of us we and two other friends got together in Fredericksburg, TX and I didn’t want to go to a honky-tonk bar, and the rest did, she kind of let me know how she felt about that!
Dee’s property backs up to the Bluff Dale river which she has claimed part of!! Whether it’s part of her farm or not who knows, she’s just elated that she can walk down to river whenever she wants. Dee’s godchildren were there that weekend, and Brody and the kids had a great time. I could literally go on and on about our friendship, but I must stop here, and maybe perhaps I’ll catch back up later and add a few more things.
