Healthy Spinach Strawberry Salad Jar Recipe
In the summer months, I like to keep things simple in the kitchen. It gets scorching hot here in north Texas, and I certainly don’t want to make it worse by turning on the oven. So keeping with our healthy lifestyle, my husband and I prepare lots of simple salads with fresh vegetables and fruits. He will also grill outdoors as much as possible. My motto is healthy living healthy eating and making it simple is a bonus!
Last night for dinner I made this yummy nutritious spinach and strawberry salad to go along with freshly grilled meat my husband made. It’s such a simple way to make sure my family gets the healthy nutrition that we strive for, plus it’s one of two leafy greens my 6-year-old will eat. Getting my child to eat healthily is such a significant thing, so I prefer to fix foods I know he will eat. So we have fresh spinach a lot!!

Speaking of spinach…I have been eating fresh spinach for quite some time, and I know the nutritional value it has. But I learned a little more about this super leafy green in Sam’s Club’s online magazine; Healthy Living Made Simple (HLMS). It’s one of my online magazines for all my family’s health and wellness needs. I like reading its nutritional information that I can put to use in my daily life.
HLMS has named spinach as its spotlight superfood for July and August and has an article on its nutritional benefits, its vitamin count for 1 cup size, as well as a few healthy recipes. It made me fall in love with fresh spinach all over again. I honestly can (and do) eat spinach by the handfuls when I want/need something to munch on.
If you’re a parent or caregiver that’s always on the go, I can assure you there’s still a way to eat healthily. A straightforward way is to get a plastic container like the one I have below and layer a salad in it. I like to put my leafy greens towards the top so as not to squash it too much. Put your dressing in a separate container, then pour it on top when you’re ready to eat. Don’t forget a fork!
