Happy New Year Texas!!
This native blue jean girl is proud to call Texas her home! Hey, Texas Residents – we’ve had pretty good weather so far this winter, and it looks like it will stay that way for a while. You can’t beat that, right? Well, hey, I want to talk with you about your electricity bill, and how you might be able to get that lowered once and for all. A couple of weeks ago I was contacted by another blogger who is helping a company spread the word about how they can save Texas residents money on their electricity bills each month. No, it’s not another electricity company trying to get your business (that’s what I thought at first as I skimmed over the email), it’s actually a company that HELPS you find the best electric company/plan for YOU. Please read on.
Since Texas is a deregulated state on electricity, it’s been noted that we have not seen the rewards or benefits of this. Not sure how many electric companies there are now in Texas, but a lot, and so confusing if you ask me. I know for me, I have stuck with the same electricity company for many years just so I don’t have to haggle with anyone. I say, it’s just easier if I stick with them, then try to find better electricity myself. I’m always afraid I’ll choose one that’s worse like I did when I changed doctors, ugh!! Well, now there’s a company that can do all that for us!!
In my opinion – I was skeptical at first, as changing something I’ve had for years is scary to me. Seriously, I don’t like change if I’ve been doing something for a long time…I call that security. However, there can come a time when change is needed. I remember saying that about my deodorant and toothpaste. I thought I’d never change to something else…until one day I started on this healthy kick and started reading labels and ingredients – guess what? I switched. Who wouldn’t want to save money on monthly bills? That’s more money we can save for something bigger – like college for your kids, or a new car.
Since I was skeptical about signing up (for the record, signing up was not a prerequisite for writing this post) my blogger friend put me in contact with one of the owners. He explained everything to me and assured me he would never change my electric company/plan without my knowledge. After communicating with him over a couple of days – I know…I’m a little slow – I signed up. Now, I’m excited to see how much I will save on my monthly electric bill. He already told me (before I signed up) that he was able to save me $695-$800 a year just by knowing a couple of things about my electricity bill. It’s worth a shot…even for us skeptics!!
I know many of you, just as we are, are in a contract already. Here’s what The Ogre says about that.
“If you are still in a contract, we create your detailed savings analysis that will calculate the financial benefit of leaving your contract early. If you decide that the savings are not big enough to leave your existing contract early, we can stay on the lookout for you. We will re-run the analysis as the market offers change, or you can cancel and rejoin Energy Ogre once your contract is closer to expiring. The choice is yours.”
So cool! I like that they give you that cost analysis. ESPECIALLY in the Texas summers, every single penny helps!!
I find it interesting that you have options about who you use for electricity. This sounds like a great service for Texans.
Here in Las Vegas we have ONE electricity company and all feel that they have a monopoly when it comes to power. I never thought about the struggles that come with having numerous companies to choose from.
I love Ogres. 😉 And saving money. Thanks for sharing this!
We don't have other options here in Utah – I wish we had something like this. It sounds great. Our power bill just went up a ton and it stinks!
Prior to moving to Texas, we didn't have options. It is a bit overwhelming here with the different options. We've changed several times since moving here. This sounds like a handy service to try out.
I agree – it's scary to change something you're use to! But energy is definitely something people can save more on if they take the time to look into it 🙂
I'm going to need to look into this for our potential move this year. Thanks!
I have been looking at ways to reduce our energy bill. This definitely looks like something I would try. Every little bit helps
I'm ready to start saving! Energy Ogre sounds like they provide an awesome service. Trying to figure out which company offers the best electricity rate is a daunting and confusing task! Thanks for the heads up! Can't wait to get started!
I'll look into seeing if there are options like this in California! Very cool (no pun intended!) 🙂
I'm going to look into solar.
