First, I have to say WOW!! What a great Blogger and Mom Conference this was. Before I give my Mom’s Meet WOW Summit 2016 wrap-up, I want to say how much I enjoyed meeting new friends, laughing and sharing blog and family stories with Amy, doing fun Facebook Live posts, but the best part of the weekend was meeting the brands face-to-face. They definitely came prepared with healthy products and ideas for healthy-minded families like yours and mine!
Amy, blogger/owner at Mainly Homemade and I went to the WOW Summit for a couple of reasons; one was to meet the brands behind all the awesome products we keep reading about on the Mom’s Meet website, and the fact that neither of us had been to the Washington, DC area, and the other reason, was because we were asked to volunteer our time before, during, and after the Summit in exchange for a free entry ticket and our hotel stay. We paled around the entire weekend with the exception of a few different workshops we each attended. It was fun, and we even spent Saturday night touring the National Harbor area.
Mom’s Meet WOW Summit 2016 Wrap-Up
Between the blogger workshops on Friday, the classes on Saturday, general sessions, listening to the awesome speakers and visiting with the brands, we had a fab time and there were questions arising in the air. All were health issues from varies moms and bloggers, and I certainly learned a few things I had not known or heard of before and that’s always a good thing when you pay to go to these types conferences. It truly pays to attend them. I couldn’t begin to write everything that went on both Friday & Saturday, but I will touch on a few fun and informative moments.
First and foremost, I want to thank the Title Sponsors for being there and sharing their products and knowledge with us. SOLGAR – Amy went to a class sponsored by them and she got to hear some fascinating information from a doctor about turmeric and other health matters. Maybe she will write about it. TASTY BITE – I was so intrigued with their ready to make microwavable foods with no preservatives, etc. I used my free coupon at Kroger and had their lentils last night. YUM!! NATIONAL GEOGRAPHIC KIDS – they were so generous with their products, I think I came home with about 6 books from them. My son loves to hear me read about real animals. MARY’S GONE CRACKERS – I got to meet her and I listened to her story about when she finally found out she had Celiac’s Disease. Her crackers are none-the-less gluten-free.
I do love when I have the opportunity to meet the owner behind the brands. I think that’s something special that the owner takes time out to come from far away to be there to talk about their own product. Two I knew were there are Mary’s Gone Crackers and FlapJacked. They both are pictured with Amy and I above.
A few blogger workshop topics were about how blogs go viral, how to gain credibility, a beginner’s guide to GA, effective FB marketing, how to pitch a brand, building a community on FB, etc. All very informative – I wasn’t able to go to all of them, but I did talk to a few bloggers that were very impressed with the workshops they attended.
General Sessions for Moms/Bloggers
When you think being a mom is hard, trying to be the best mom is even harder. There were some great session talk on this topic, such as, “Why Being a Mom is Enough”, “Healthy Moms Grow Happier Kids”, “I’d Do Anything for You, Including Change the World”, etc. It really makes you think if just being a mom is enough. Do you think so? I do.
A HUGE shout out to Karissa Barber for being the best Emcee I’ve ever met. Awesome girl right there (left of me)!!! She definitely carried the WOW Summit to a whole upper level…if you know what I mean!!!
Here’s a few other incentives for you to think about for next year….and one of my favorite of all.
- Mom’s Meet was doing some type of social media contest where they were giving out Amazon Gift Cards to the winners. There was a list of things to do throughout the weekend, take a picture of your favorite Mom’s Meet employee and share it on Instagram, or snap a shot of a brand and share that on social media…..you get it, right? Well, I was a winner and I received a $20 Amazon GC. I already used it and bought my son a Halloween Costume!!
- Brands of the show donated product for a raffle and we were given raffle tickets (no extra cost) and got to put our tickets in a bowl next to the product(s) we hoped to win. There were a lot of prizes. You had to be present to win, and they drew names at the end. So many winners and so many happy moms.
- Some brands were doing their own drawing at their booth. AND I Won one!! I won Earth’s Best. Haven’t received my winnings yet, but I know I’ll love it all!!!
That’s my Mom’s Meet WOW Summit 2016 Wrap-Up. Hope to see you next year!!
So hopefully, you can see what WOW Summit is all about and will be about next year. If you’re a mom and/or a mom blogger think about attending WOW Summit 2017. A little birdie told me it just might be in either Tennessee or Texas. I’m hoping for Tennessee since I’ve never been there, but I’ll take Texas too since that’s my hometown!!!
The Capital Wheel at National Harbor. Worth doing!!
If you’re a healthy-minded mom, I suggest you check out Mom’s Meet and join their community. They feature great brands and you may have the chance to review some healthy products. They are always looking for bloggers, as well as moms to join their group. What did you think of my Mom’s Meet WOW Summit 2016 Wrap-Up? Doesn’t it make you want to attend next year?
