Okay, I get it…kids get bored. Mine sure does. Here is something fun and cheap to keep them busy throughout the rest of the holidays. This recycled tin can craft for kids kept up busy for a while.
First, get your kids to start collecting cool and weird stuff that they find on the side of roads, parking lots, their very own driveway, and even around your house to make their recycled tin can craft. Cool thing about tin cans – I had just about given up on eating food from cans until my husband spotted a brand at Costco that came out with organic green beans with nothing but organic green beans, water, and sea salt. Now, we’ve got plenty of tin cans for crafts!
Recycled Tin Can Craft for Kids
Gather your materials and make a plan. Here are a few of the things we found and used for ours.
- tin can
- old pair of earrings I had that got drenched in something and discolored them
- old button
- wire from a phone plug
- old bed spring
- a halo from an angel that was in my garden for years
- and more!
We could have gone crazy with decorating this tin can, but for Brody – he was finished and happy about it!
Step by step we created our tin can craft. There’s really no way to instruct anyone on how to make this….as it’s a completely do it yourself craft.
Crazy thing – here’s how I got the inspiration to make our own tin craft. The below photo was from a bank ad I saw come through in my email. I took one look at it and knew it was something my kid would probably like to make. Just look at what all was used on this one!! Pretty cool, uh? Grab a tin can and get going. Make yours the way you want, and use ours as inspiration (or theirs) as inspiration. Have fun!!
